Deconstruction Poster2023

Drawing on the work of Derrida and Jacques Lacan, I use semiotics to challenge the meaning of language and its relationship with images. Through my typographic code and text-image pairings, I question the subjective meaning of “natural” and what constitutes it. By emphasizing the use of the computer and digital manipulation, I present various interpretations encouraging the viewer to decode both visible and hidden meanings. I critique what makes those elements appear “natural”. Why is a pear considered “natural”? Is it because it comes from nature, because it’s green, because of its soft smooth edges?
